Course Description:
Spanish 3 continues the development of linguistic skills. Spanish 3 further prepares the students to communicate in a multicultural society. Cultural activities and field trips are provided. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to express themselves in common "real-life" situations one might encounter in a Spanish-speaking country.
Course Objectives:
1.Communications
a. Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, and express feelings and emotions.
b. Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics.
c. Students present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners on a variety of topics.
2. Culture
a. Students gain knowledge and understanding of other cultures.
b. Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives of the culture studied.
c. Students develop insight into the nature of language and culture.
3. Connections
a. Students use the language both within and beyond the school setting.
b. Students reinforce and further their knowledge of other disciplines through the foreign language.
c. Students show evidence of becoming life-long learners by using the language for personal enjoyment and enrichment.
Class Expectations:
1. Each student will learn a Bible verse weekly.
2. Each student will memorize and recite the poem "La Noche" by Gabriela Mistral.
3. Each Friday a vocabulary quiz will be given.
Evaluations:
1. Weekly vocabulary quizzes
2. Quizzes
3. Unit exam
4. Final exam
5. Grading scale- 90% A, 80% B, 70% C, and 60% D.
